Radically Slash Auto Insurance 16 Ways! – Part 1

Here are 16 ways to radically slash your auto insurance immediately. Automobile insurance is a racket because you keep paying and paying and paying, and it only kicks in when you need it.

Of course car insurance is a necessary expense and even required by law in most states, but wouldn’t it be nice to have A+ car insurance that costs maybe half of what you are currently forking over? Of course, so here are 18 ways to slash your car insurance bill right now…

  • The first and most obvious way to cut your car insurance bill right now is to shop around and get multiple car insurance quotes from others. Sounds simple, right? It is but many people fail to take the time to do that and stay stuck with the same car insurance company for many years. The key is to make sure you are getting a quote for the exact same coverage you have right now. So pull out a copy of your current policy and use that as a guide when you compare auto insurance. Keep in mind that your current insurance policy will be prorated and the balance will be refunded as soon as you start with your new car insurance policy. Don’t cancel your current insurance until AFTER your new policy has started!
  • If you have a teenager that lives at home with you, then restrict their usage of your car so they are considered to be an “occasional driver” by your car insurance company.
  • If you’re under 25 then get your parents to put you on their auto insurance policy.
  • If you have a business and a teenage driver…have your teenager drive the company car. Check with your insurance company, but most don’t charge more for teenage drivers.
  • If you own a house in the country, then by all means register your car(s) for that location, even if its a vacation house.
  • Increase your deductible to the highest amounts. Raising your deductible from $50.00 to $500.00 could save you hundreds of dollars per year.
  • If you’ve got a car that is only worth $3000 (plus or minus) then some car insurance companies will cover you for that amount if your car is totaled without you having to spend a lot more money on collision coverage.
  • Certain types of cars can cost you more money like sports cars due to statistics that prove that sports car drivers drive over the speed limit. You wouldn’t do that, now would you? Cars with more powerful motors can cost more too.
